The eternal ice of the glacier and Top of Salzburg on the Kitzsteinhorn in 3,029 metres above sea level can now be accessed directly from the centre of Kaprun via the new 3K K-onnection during an incomparable, twelve-kilometre-long panoramic cable car ride. On viewing platforms in over 3,000 metres above sea level, guests enjoy magnificent views across Austria’s highest mountains and the pristine high alpine wilderness of the adjacent Hohe Tauern National Park.
The Ice Arena offers summer refreshment and snow-feeling with toboggan and snow disc runs on the plateau of the glacier. Numerous hiking trails lead from the valley to the world of eternal ice and the mighty three-thousand meter peaks: the traditional hut tour on the Maiskogel or the guided summit tour “My first three-thousand meterpeak” to the 3,203-meter-high Kitzsteinhorn.
As one of the most popular panorama and familymountains, the Schmittenhöhe has a wide range of activities and experiences for young and old, which can be easily reached with up to 5 cable cars. These include numerous hiking and adventure trails with a 360 degree panoramic view. The high promenade, the herb trail as well as the new adventure hiking trail Mystical Forest offer a wonderful view of over thirty 3,000-meter peaks and Lake Zell.
The Schmittenhöhe offers a unique combination of view, cosy sun terraces and alpine cuisine in one of the numerous huts or mountain restaurants. Cool kids can experience “Schmidolin’s baptism of fire” and Salzburg’s only e-motocross park on the mountain.
With its location and crystal-clear water, Lake Zell is one of Austria’s most beautiful lakes. The place to be for all water lovers and sun worshippers are the three lidos and many public swimming areas with large sunbathing lawns. In summer, the lake’s water reaches pleasant temperatures of around 23 degrees. The lidos offer a wide range of amenities such as heated pools, diving towers, water trampolines or giant slides as well as playgrounds for children.
Whether surfing, stand-up paddling, banana boating and kayaking or pedal boating: the sporty options ensure lots of action even on the water. The panoramic tours on board the MS Schmittenhöhe offer particularly beautiful views over the lake.
Numerous spectacles of nature and alpine monuments such as the Sigmund Thun Gorge, the Kaprun High-Mountain Reservoirs, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and the Hohe Tauern National Park – one of the greatest high mountain landscapes on earth – are among the most spectacular excursion destinations in Austria.
The desired variety in any weather in Zell am See-Kaprun is provided by the “Maisiflitzer” alpine rollercoaster, Schmidolins Feuerstuhl on the Schmittenhöhe and the Tauern SPA – one of Europe’s most modern wellness facilities.
From the start of the season until 15 October, guests can obtain the included summercard at numerous partner businesses in the region if they book at least one overnight stay at selected accommodation establishments. The card entitles the holder to free or reduced admission to 40 attractions, including the lidos and top destinations in the region.
